Montgomery County, Maryland is located beside Washington, D.C. As of the most recent census the county’s population was almost a million residents. The capital of the county and largest municipality is Rockville. Most of the county’s residents live in unincorporated locales. These locales include Silver Spring and Bethesda. However, the incorporated cities of Rockville and Gaithersburg are also large population centers. Similarly many smaller but significant towns are there.
Because it is one of the most affluent counties in the United States, Montgomery County, Maryland is educated. It has the highest percentage (28.2%) of residents over 25 years of age who hold post-graduate degrees. The county has been ranked as one of the wealthiest counties in the United States. Like other counties in the DC area, Montgomery County contains many major U.S. government offices. Also it contains scientific research and learning centers. Business campuses round out the entities which provide a significant amount of revenue for the county.
